ABOUT ME
WOOD & PLANTS
Blaine is an experienced woodworker and landscaper, with a degree in Horticulture. His knowledge of plants and trees allows for a deeper understanding of the strength of his furniture, the grains of the wood, and the colours that the wood becomes as it ages.
IN THE MOVIES
Blaine broke into the movie and TV industry in Alberta in 2002 on his first show “Lies My Mother Told Me”. He already had many years of experience as a carpenter and landscaper, so a friend put him in touch with the union hall and he was able to begin almost immediately. Blaine has always had a different sort of style when it comes to building, primarily using Diamond Willow branches and Saskatoon Bush wood. Where others see branches and twigs, Blaine sees structures and shapes – giving his work a naturalistic and entirely unique quality. “I build outside the box, I don’t follow a plan – I build it out of the air,” says Blaine. Film has given him the setting to put these uncommon talents to good use, with a lot of his work on display in many projects shot in Alberta.
